Founded in 1971, Stellenbosch Wine Routes was the first wine route organisation established in South Africa to collectively promote the wineries in this special region. It is also one of the oldest wine routes in the world. Today, more than five decades later, Stellenbosch Wine Routes represents over 200 wine and grape producers within the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin classification. This growing community includes some of the most renowned wine estates and producers in the Western Cape.
Stellenbosch Wine Routes members include historic wine estates established over 300 years ago, modern boutique wineries producing exceptional wines, and large multifunctional wineries. Together, they offer a diverse range of wine and wine tourism experiences that delight visitors from around the world. The region is home to innovators in Pinotage and Cap Classique, leading producers of Cabernet Sauvignon, and renowned brands producing Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. With such a rich heritage and breadth of expertise, Stellenbosch Wine Routes members are at the pinnacle of their craft.
